How to scan parts with the Zuper mobile app using manufacturer barcodes or Zuper QR codes
Use case: Find parts quickly in the field or warehouse by scanning a barcode instead of searching by name.
How it works
The Zuper mobile app’s scanner matches a scanned code to a part’s Product Number. Each part’s system-generated QR code contains:
product_id: the part’s Product Number
product_uid: the part’s unique Zuper ID
module=product: tells the app the code refers to a Parts & Services record
Option 1: Parts with a manufacturer barcode
Go to Parts & Services and open the part.
Click Edit, enter the manufacturer’s barcode value in Product Number, and save.
Scan the manufacturer’s barcode with the Zuper mobile app to open the part.
✅ Tested with Code 128.
Option 2: Parts without a manufacturer barcode
Give the part a Product Number in Zuper.
Print the QR code Zuper generates for the part and stick it on the part, bin or shelf.
Scan the QR code with the Zuper mobile app to open the part.
Good to know
Zuper generates QR codes only, not 1D barcodes such as UPC or Code 128.
Product Numbers must be unique, so each scan resolves to exactly one part.
Try it with a few parts before rolling it out across your whole inventory.
Formats other than Code 128 (for example, UPC or EAN) haven’t been confirmed yet. Test them with your own labels first.
